Description
Usage Instructions for Vet Expert Rapid Brucella canis Ab Test Kit
Basic Principles
The VetExpert C.Brucella Ab is a chromatographic immunological test for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Brucella canis in canine serum, plasma, or whole blood. The letters T and C on the surface of the test plate indicate the test line (T) and the control line (C). The control line (C) is used for procedural control and should always appear if the test procedure is performed correctly and the test reagents are functioning properly. A colored test line (T) will be visible in the result window if antibodies are present in the sample.
Sensitivity: 93.0%
Specificity: 99.9%

- Usage instructions
Precautions:
- Diagnostic test for veterinary use only.
- Strict adherence to instructions is required for valid results.
- The test plate is sensitive to moisture and heat. Perform the test immediately after opening its casing.
- Test materials are for single use only.
- Do not touch the membrane in the result window.
- Do not use the test kit after the expiration date indicated on the package label.
- Do not use the test if the casing is damaged.
- Do not mix test materials from different Lot numbers.
- Handle the sample as potentially infectious.
- Disinfect and dispose of all samples and materials according to applicable regulations.
- Consider the test results invalid after the specified reading time.
Test Kit Storage
The test kit can be stored at a temperature of 2 ~ 30 °C. The test is stable until the expiration date. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not expose the test to direct sunlight.
Sample Collection and Preparation
The test can be performed with serum, plasma, or whole blood. However, serum is the most recommended sample.
- [Serum] Collect whole blood (WITHOUT any anticoagulant) and allow it to clot for 30 minutes. Then centrifuge to obtain the serum.
- [Plasma] Collect whole blood into a collection tube (containing anticoagulants) and then centrifuge to obtain the plasma.
- [Whole Blood] Collect whole blood into an anticoagulant tube (max. volume 1.5 ml). If anticoagulated whole blood is not tested immediately, it should be refrigerated at 2~8°C and used within 24 hours.
Serum samples should be stored at 2~8°C. For longer storage, freeze samples at -20°C or lower. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Samples containing sediment may give unreliable test results and should be clarified before use. Hemolyzed or contaminated samples may yield incorrect results.
Test Procedure
All reagents should be at room temperature (15~30°C) before use.
- Remove the test from the aluminum packaging and place it on a flat, dry surface.
- Using a pipette (included), add 10 µl (marked on the pipette) of serum/plasma/whole blood to the well.
- Add 2 drops of assay diluent to the test well.
- The sample will flow to the result window. If it does not appear after 1 minute, add one more drop of the assay diluent to the test well. Read the result after 20 minutes.
Test Interpretation
- Negative Result – Only the control line (C) appears in the result window.
- Positive Result – Both the test line (T) and the control line (C) appear in the result window – indicating the presence of antigen. Even a faint line indicates a positive result.
- Invalid Result – If the control line (C) does not appear, the result may be considered invalid. The sample should be retested.
Test Limitations
Although the Vet Expert Brucella canis Ab test is very accurate, a small percentage of incorrect results may occur. Additional clinical tests are required if the results obtained are doubtful. As with all diagnostic tests, a definitive clinical diagnosis should not be based on the results of a single test but should be made by evaluating the entirety of clinical and laboratory findings.
