Description
Usage Instructions for Vet Expert Rapid FCoV Ag Test Kit
Basic Principles
The Vet Expert Rapid FCoV Ag test is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of coronavirus antigens in feline feces. The letters T and C on the test plate represent the test line (T) and the control line (C). The control line (C) should always appear if the test procedure has been performed correctly and the reagents are functioning properly. A colored test line (T) will appear in the results window if antigens are present in the sample.
- Sensitivity: 92.8%
- Specificity: 98.1%
Materials Provided (5 Tests per Kit)
- 5 Vet Expert FCoV Ag test plates
- 5 vials of diluent
- 5 swabs
- 5 pipettes
- Instructions for use
Precautions
- Diagnostic test for veterinary use only.
- Follow instructions strictly for accurate results.
- The test plate is sensitive to moisture and heat; perform the test immediately after opening the pouch.
- Test materials are single-use only.
- Avoid touching the membrane in the result window.
- Do not use the test after the expiration date on the packaging.
- Do not use the test if the pouch is damaged.
- Do not mix test kit materials from different Lot numbers.
- Handle the sample as potentially infectious.
- Disinfect and dispose of all samples and materials according to local regulations.
- Results should be considered invalid if read after the specified time.
Storage
Store the test at 2 ~ 30 °C. DO NOT FREEZE. Avoid direct sunlight.
Test Procedure
- Ensure all reagents are at room temperature (15~30°C).
- Using the swab, collect a sample from feline feces or directly from the rectum.
- Insert the swab into the vial containing the diluent. Stir with the swab for at least 10 seconds to mix the sample and diluent thoroughly. Remove the swab, pressing it against the tube wall.
- Remove the test from its foil pouch and place it on a flat, dry surface.
- Using the provided disposable pipette, draw up the supernatant from the sample vial.
- Add 5 drops to the sample well.
- Read the result after 10 minutes. Do not interpret results after 20 minutes.
Interpretation of Results
- Negative Result – Only the control line (C) appears in the result window.
- Positive Result – Both the test line (T) and control line (C) appear, indicating the presence of the antigen. Even a faint line is considered positive.
- Invalid Result – If the control line (C) does not appear, the result is invalid. The sample should be retested.
Test Limitations
While the FCoV Ag test kit is highly accurate, a small rate of false results may occur. Further clinical testing is recommended if results are inconclusive. As with all diagnostic tests, a definitive clinical diagnosis should not be based on the results of a single test alone but should be evaluated in conjunction with all clinical and laboratory findings.
