Description
Usage Instructions for Vet Expert Rapid CPV Ag Test
Basic Principles
The Vet Expert CPV Ag test is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of parvovirus (CPV) antigens in canine feces. The letters T and C on the surface of the test plate indicate the test line (T) and the control line (C). The control line (C) serves as a procedural control and should always appear if the test procedure is performed correctly and the test reagents are functioning properly. A colored test line (T) will be visible in the result window if antigens are present in the sample.
- Sensitivity: CPV 99.9%
- Specificity: CPV 99.9%

Precautions
- Diagnostic test for veterinary use only.
- Strict adherence to instructions is required for valid results.
- The test plate is sensitive to moisture and heat. Perform the test immediately after opening its casing.
- Test materials are for single use only.
- Do not touch the membrane in the result window.
- Do not use the test after the expiration date indicated on the package label.
- Do not use the test if the casing is damaged.
- Do not mix test materials from different Lot numbers.
- Handle the sample as potentially infectious.
- Disinfect and dispose of all samples and materials according to applicable regulations.
- Consider the test results invalid after the specified reading time.
Storage
The test can be stored at a temperature of 2 ~ 30 °C. The test remains stable until the expiration date. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not expose the test to direct sunlight.
Sample Collection and Preparation
The test should be conducted using dog feces. Samples should be used immediately after collection. If samples cannot be tested immediately, they should be stored at 2~8°C for up to 24 hours. For longer storage, freeze samples at -20°C or lower. The correct amount of feces to be collected is shown in the image above.
Test Procedure
All reagents should be at room temperature (15~30°C) before use.
- Using the swab, collect the sample from dog feces or directly from the rectum.
- Insert the swab into the tube containing the diluent. Mix with the swab for at least 10 seconds to ensure the sample and diluent are well mixed. Remove the swab while pressing it against the tube wall.
- Remove the test from the foil packaging and place it on a flat, dry surface.
- Using the provided disposable pipettes, take the supernatant from the sample tube. If the fecal particles are too large, wait 1 minute for the larger particles to settle, then take the sample’s supernatant.
- Add 4 drops into the well.
- Read the result after 10 minutes. Do not interpret after 20 minutes.
Test Interpretation
- Negative Result – Only the control line (C) appears in the result window.
- Positive Result – Both the test line (T) and control line (C) appear in the result window, indicating the presence of antigen. Even a faint line signifies a positive result.
- Invalid Result – If the control line (C) does not appear, the result may be considered invalid. The sample should be retested.
Test Limitations
Although the CPV Ag test is highly accurate, a small percentage of incorrect results may occur. Additional clinical tests are necessary if the results obtained are questionable. As with all diagnostic tests, a definitive clinical diagnosis should not rely solely on the results of a single test but should consider the entirety of clinical and laboratory findings.
